A burin is a type of handheld lithic flake with a chisel like edge which prehistoric humans used for engraving or for carving wood or bone.

Burins have been found at Creswell Crags in Pinhole Cave, Robin Hood Cave and Church Hole Cave.

The approx. size of a burin is 8-9cm. Each burin is handmade so they vary in size.               The item received may be slightly different in colout/appearance to the image due to natural variations in the flint rock.
